What caused Elizabeth Blackwell to want to be a doctor?
Q. I am doing my History fair project on Elizabeth Blackwell, and I need some more info, especially what caused her to want to be a doctor. Please help me because if I don't finish I dont go to seventh grade!

A. She attended Geneva College in New York. She was accepted there anecdotally, because the faculty put it to a student vote, and the students thought her application a hoax and braved the prejudice of some of the professors and students to complete her training. Blackwell overcame taunts and prejudice from the faculty as well as from her fellow students while at medical school. One anecdote relates that her anatomy instructor requested that she absent herself on a particular day, as the students would be dissecting a penis. Blackwell is said to have replied that if the instructor was upset by the fact that Student No. 156 wore a bonnet, she would be pleased to remove her conspicuous headgear and take a seat at the rear of the classroom,… [cont.]

What's a good thesis to prove that Elizabeth Blackwell was an innovator or still is one?
Q. I'm doing a history day project on Elizabeth Blackwell and I have to provide a thesis to prove that she was an innovator. The theme this year obviously is innovation. I need to present on Monday so please help!

A. An innovator is a person who is one of the first to do something and often opens up a new area for others and achieves an innovation. Elizabeth is a good pick, being she was the first female physician in the United States. (first in her class January 23, 1849. Banned from practice in most hospitals she was advised to go to Paris, France and train at La Maternite, but while she was there her training was cut short when she caught a serious eye infection, purulent ophthalmia, from a baby she was treating. She had her eye removed and replaced with a glass eye. In 1857 Blackwell along with her sister Emily and Dr. Marie Zakrzewska, founded their own infirmary, named the New York Infirmary for Indigent Women and Children. During the American… [cont.]

What are effects of trihalomethanes in EPA rated excess in the water on humans in Blackwell Oklahoma?
Q. For 4 years now, the city council of Blackwell, OK have sent out flyers saying that the water has levels of trihalomethanes in excess of EPA standards and that the community sholudn't worry about it. But the fish and turtles in private ponds are dying and the dogs and cats will not drink the water sometimes. What's it doing to us and why won't the city do anything about it?

A. I would like to know as well. I live in Moore, OK and I just received the flyer listing the contaminates in our water. It had VOC's including Benzene in there which is a carcinogen. I also saw the trihalomethanes as well. I'm not sure what they do. Sounds to me like Oklahoma needs to get on the ball. I don't think I will be drinking the tap water anytime soon! Ok -- after posting this, I looked up trihalomethanes and this is what I found. This comes from a New York site but I think it had some interesting info. I hope this helps - it didn't give me fuzzy feelings! Trihalomethanes mhel trihalomethanes (THM's) are members of a group of organic chemicals that contain a single carbon atom, one hydrogen atom, and three atoms of either… [cont.]

They could also be part of the latest trend in speeding cameras which work on average speed over a fixed distance, so the camera clocks your registration at the start and again at the end and the computer calculates your average speed then they send you a ticket. If you dont you have to go back to the dorm with Kelly, call Joey on the phone and ask him to distract Kelly, and then swipe the notebook on Joann's desk. (if you dont know how to get Joey to distract Kelly, you need to go back to your apartment and then click on Joey, then chose 'ask about Joey' and 'ask about ghostly powers' then you'll be able to go back to the dorm and call him on the phone so he can help you out) Once you read Joann's notebook you'll have the whole name of Alexander Davenport in your notepad and you should be able to combine them to talk to the guard. What is a name of one school Elizabeth Blackwell applied for?
Q. She was accepted in Geneva and another school, but what are some of the schools that denied her attendance? I just need one or two... I'm doing a multi-genre paper for school and am going to write an rejection letter and an acception letter.
Asked by blackpuss123 - Sun Apr 27 13:07:28 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Upon applying for admission to the medical schools of New York, Philadelphia, and Boston, she was uniformly refused. From ten others the same answer was returned, until at Geneva the faculty submitted the question to the students, who unanimously voted for her reception, at the same time assuring her that nothing on their part should ever occur to wound her feelings while in attendance, -a pledge which they nobly kept.

A. Start by looking in blackwell free cycle, this is for giving and getting thing you need or don'T NEED, it keeps the dump a little cleaner and for aluminum take them to the salvage yard they pay so much a pound/TON. if you have a trash company picking up your trash ask them. bundle up your papers and cardboard set them out by the trash to recycle. you might have a recycle tote already. throw them in there but they got to be in a paper bag or tied with twine or string

She was born in Bristiol, England, in 1821, her family emigrated to the USA in 1832, and after her father's death when she was 17 she maintained a private school for four years with her mother and sisters. She enrolled at La Maternite in Paris as a student midwife, because they wouldn't admit her as a medical student, there she contracted purulent ophthalmia from a baby and lost the sight of one eye. A. I'm a typographer and have heard of Blackwell, but I'm not sure he's particularly well known for designing typefaces. His contribution to the field has been far more literary with a couple of really well known typography books that I can think of off the top of my head: '20th Century Type' and 'The End of Print' with David Carson. I'm sure he also had something to do with the design magazine Creative Review at one point. Hope that helps.

As for the pills, you wont get those until you visit Susan the second time, and then you have to steal the guards keys and mess with the fusebox to get in to see her again. Other than that, take a look at the walkthru listed below, it might be able to help you out. good luck :)

A. You have to be a subscriber to access these journals. However if you are at uni or work for particular institutions you get free access to them by use of Athens. Your uni/institution should have supplied you with your Athens login details when you first started. If not contact them. If however you are not at uni or part of an institution that subscribes to these journals then I am afraid you cannot access them.
